SUPPORT THE LOCALS!
Martinsville, VA has been hit by the hard times we are all feeling in the country's current economic client. If you are at the races this weekend go out and support the privately owned restaurants in the area. Go try the un-known and you might find yourself a true-food-find!
SIT AT THE PAPERCLIP
Martinsville is one of the best tracks on the circuit for a fan to watch and enjoy racing action. Go buy a ticket and enjoy the bumping and banging of one of NASCAR's most historic tracks!
HOT DIGGITY DOG!
Everyone who knows me knows I love the Martinsville Hot Dog. There's nothing like it. Don't be afraid. It may be bright red but if you close your eyes it is AMAZING!
EAT n' INTERACT
We've loved some of the feedback on facebook and have taken some of your suggestions. Keep 'em coming and post some pics of places you've eaten!
TRUE CAUSE
A great friend of mine, Lonnie Clouse and his family are moving to Mexico to help care for orphans. Lonnie has been a part of Motor Racing Outreach for a while now and a great friend to racing as well. Go check out his mission and offer up some support, prayer or encouragement!
LEFTOVERS???
Check out where we've hit on the road in 2010!
Virginia's Mike Paris is a friend of SpeedEats.com. Paris is a veteran of the racing industry. Most recently he has worked for Advance Auto Parts' Motorsports Marketing program. Paris has been an great ambassador for Short Track Racing, bringing attention and support to the sport.
Frith's Dixie Pig BBQ
This is one of my favorite BBQ places. It is owned by members of one of my family so I am partial. It has been around for more than 50 years. Great Davey Allison memorabilia on the walls. The owner's late daughter was befriended by Davey and was very kind to her until she passed. Great story.

Pigs R Us BBQ / Checkered Pig BBQ
These folks started with catering for the Wood Brothers and Martinsville Speedway. But there main claim to fame is that they catered my wedding. LOL. They have won numerous national awards for their BBQ and ribs. The walls are decorated with racing items.

Elizabeth's Pizza
For years this is the favorite restaurant of Riggs Racing (Long-time Southern Modified racing team). The team stops there to eat before leaving for the track and to eat lunch and dinner when working at the shop. It is a good chance you will run into them if you go there. We know NASCAR Modified Tour veteran Jamie Tomaino loves this place too!
8500 A.L. Philpott Highway, Suite #4, Martinsville, VA 24112
(Also a location by the famous Dutch Inn)
Whistle-Jacket
Great place for dinner. Very cool atmosphere hidden away just outside of Eden, NC. Many people who work in racing stay in that area during Martinsville weekend.

Texas Tavern
This may be in Roanoke but it is AWESOME! It just celebrated it's 80th anniversary. Check out the link below. You will not be disappointed.

Ippy's Restaurant
Since the restaurant has moved from the old house that it was located for many years it has lost some of it's charm but the food is great.
(Editor's Note: In the home of former Modified racing great Donald "Satch" Worley).
