FAN-FOOD.... by NASCAR fan Debbie Elling
Michigan Int'l Speedway

(Editor's Note:  We met Debbie and Randy on a NASCAR Beach Bash trip a few years back. They are avid race fans and follow Speedeats.com. Debbie goes out of her way each year to make MD homemade cookies!  And yes, they are delicious.)

My husband Randy and I have been going to Michigan International Speedway for both races for 12 years now. We live in Napoleon, Ohio -  about an hour drive to MIS.

Being racefans and knowing Speedeat.com's Matthew Dillner, we tried Red Bone Alley in Florence, NC at SpeedEats suggestion and had an awesome dinner.

So, I wanted to share with Speedeats one of our favorite places to eat while spending a weekend at MIS. The place is called Randy's Original Roadhouse BBQ. Randy's is only five-minutes from the track.

I have only eaten at Randy's once, with a former classmate of mine, Terry Johnson, who lives in Adrian Michigan and frequents Randy's. She should get mentioned because she has tried just about everything on the menu.  I had the meat only platter with beef brisket, potato salad & slaw, bread pudding, and mango margarita.

The beef brisket is to die for. Smoked ribs, pulled pork, and pulled chicken are delicious and available in 4 sauces, hot n spicy, honey bbq, gold mustard and original.

Some other great things: Southern recipe potato salad, baked beans, and slaw. Bread Pudding with Vanilla sauce is very good. Mango Margaritas are a refreshing and just $4.00. Kids meals come in a plastic car that looks like the body of cars from the 50's.

The Walls are covered with old license plates.

Dave, "the piano man" plays on Friday and Saturday nights starting around 7 p.m.

My friend Terry said there isn't one thing on the menu she wouldn't recommend.

Enjoy Speedeats!
