BRISTOL - ANDY JEFFERS
My favorite three places would have to be Cafe' Pacific, Cafe' Lola, and Ridgewood Bar-B-Q.
The Tri-Cities for the size of the towns you wouldn't think of having many places to eat, but they actually have several chain places to fill you up. The best part of growing up in the area however knowing the local restaurants that have some of the best food you can find.
Cafe Pacific is a bit expensive but they have a great cheeseboard along with great wine selections. For an entree I would recommend the Pan Seared Ahi Tuna or Black Pepper Steak.
Cafe' Lola is owned by Hunter and Tara Morrow who relocated to Johnson City from New York City in 2006. Cafe' Lola has reasonable prices for the great meals you get. I like the stuffed chicken w/ cranberry or the baked salmon with smoked paprika. Also listen to the specials because they will have different specials everyday. Lola' also offers a great wine selection.
Ridgewood Barbecue is a favorite for many in the racing community. I remember as a little kid going there with my father, Benny Parsons, and the rest of the ESPN crew when BP was shooting a segment for "Buffett Benny". It has always been a favorite for the locals in East Tennessee. Can't mess up on ordering anything there. If you like Bar-B-Que and all the fixins' then you need to try. The late owner, Mrs. Proffitt, was the only restaurant owner that stuck Benny with the bill after the meal and shoot was over, always a classic story to tell!
