Hillsdale Bank BBQ is a little out of the way, but VERY worth the adventure. It's a great hidden, small town barbecue find!

BB's Lawnside Barbecue
What goes better with good Kansas City Barbecue than a side of Blues? We say, nothing. It's the perfect marraige. BB's Lawnside features ribs and other barbecue favorites from it's 60-year old smoker. They have some of the best live blues around nightly.

Hillsdale Bank BBQ
This place is about 40-mins outside Kansas Speedway, and only open three days a week... but Barbecue lovers, that is a hop-skip-and-a-jump for a place THIS good! Hillsdale is a unique, wood-fired barbecue, in an old bank building. It's one of a kind and so is the food. Try a sampler platter. I'm in love with their burnt ends! It's a must and one of my favorite places on the road! Their sauce is considered to be one of the best in Kansas.

Stroud's
Stoud's is a Kansas City tradition dating back to 1933. It's staple dish is simple, Pan Fried Chicken. The building is a beautiful old homestead. They have two locations but the one listed below is the original. The old fashioned Pan Fried Chicken dinners come with a salad or homemade chicen noodle soup, and your choice of Potato, Green Beans and homemade Cinammon Rolls. Yummmmm.

Hereford House: Zona Rosa
A bunch of us NASCAR people used to go to a Kansas City steakhouse tradition known as the Hereford House. Well, just two years ago that building blew up. Hereford House Zona Rosa stems from the great Hereford tradition serving some of the best steaks Kansas City has to offer in a upscale casual atmosphere. If you want a steak, Kansas does it right! Hereford has been doing it right for a long long time.

Oklahoma Joe's
With roots from the famed "Slaugherhouse Five" (known as one of the all-time great barbecue competition teams) this restaurant comes with some high expectations. It meets and in some ways exceeds them all. They are known for all types of barbecue, especially ribs. But try their Hog Heaven sandwich which includes pulled pork and sliced sausage.
