ROBERT IS HERE!  YUM
"Robert is Here" is the name of the place. MRO's Monte and Melanie Self go there. It's a great local fruit stand with ice cream and milkshakes. Where else can you go get delicious fresh treats and hear live music?

MOFONGO!!!
What is Mofongo??? In a nutshell it is Plaintains, mashed up with garlic. Then combined with chicken, shrimp,  or pork.  Then chicharones (fried pork skin). It is mashed up with a baseball bat!!!  Yeah... it's found at Benny's Seafood, a local sensation serving some of the best Puerto Rican food around. Guy Fieri RAVES about this place!

Oh Goodness!  We cant get enough fried plantains while we are in Miami. These ones are from our featured food spot "Havana Harry's"   Check out the article about the restaurant by the Examiner click here

The Fish House
So many NASCAR people stay south of Homestead Miami Speedway and most in the know dine at the seafood restaurant that tops MD's lists of favorite places to eat on the road.... none other than "The Fish House".  MD's favorite is the Yellow-Tail pan-sauteed.  They take the Fish and Dust it with flour, dip it in egg wash, and sautée it  in butter, lemon and sherry. Yummmm.  The Mahi is fantastic as well! If you are staying in Miami, it's a long drive. MD has done it tho!

Cafe Versailles
There are a few Versailles but the one below is the best of them all. Located in a cuban neighborhood named "Little Havana", Versailles is a family favorite.  Part diner, part bakery and all amazing.  Load up on dinner and bring home some pastries.

If you are on the go, you can order from their outside-standing take out window.  The Empanadas are to die for.  For coffee lovers get a Collada (Cuban Expresso) or a Cafe con Leche.

Blue Marlin Fish House
We always recommend places for good smoked meat...why not smoked fish?  One of the area's most famed fish house's. The Blue Marlin has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. You can get some of the best fresh, smoked fish at Blue Marlin. And the smoker...it's done with homemade charcoal feeding the unusual smoker unit.  Try the Blue Marlin fish dip!

Havana Harry's
Cuban home-cooking in a nice casual sit-down atmosphere.  This super comforable restaurant is a favorite of MD. Make sure you start out with Maraquitas... we choose Maraquitas Ole (Plantain Chips with cheese and spanish sausage).  Any of the steak and seafood dishes at HHarry's are can't miss dishes.  The plantains are amazing.

Latin American Grill
Ok... looking for a great meal for an affordable price and some amazing local flavor... this little place is right up your alley! There are a few Latin American Grill's but this one is our favorite. Homemade breads,  fresh ingredients and a Cuban/Latino food adventure.  Our standdby is the Maraquitos Con Mojito (Plantain Chips with a Garlic Lime Sauce) appetizer.  Then make sure to dry the Medianoche (Midnight Sandwich) which is Ham, Roast Pork, Cheese & Pickle between homemade sweet bread and pressed.

La Carreta
Owned by the same people who run Cafe Versailles, La Carreta is a favorite in the Little Havana neighborhood in Miami.  Get a tropical drink and dine with a wide-array of cuban beef, pork, chicken and seafood specialties.  Great food for sure

Texas De Brazil (Dolphin Mall)
OK... it's a chain but Eagle and I love this Brazillian Steakhouse.  If you've never been... a buffet of cheeses and salads awaits you. Followed by a endless stream of wait-staff bringing out skewers of various meats to try to the table. We took Bob Dillner (SPEED) and several people from NASCAR.com to this pig out spot for the first time.  It's not cheap but you will eat more than you thought possible. Great atmosphere and guaranteed "meat sweats".
