Matthew Dillner won't be in Phoenix this weekend but has some picks that are sure to make your mouth water. Check em' out!

Barrio Cafe
MD and his "road partner in crime" Jason Allison (aka Eagle) go to this place EVERY time we go to Phoenix. Barrio features a creative menu full of great mexican food. Local art hangs from the walls. They have 250 choices of tequila. Oh, and there is an unusual Luchador themed bathroom!

Established in 2002 by partners Wendy Gruber & chef Silvana Salcido Esparza, The Barrio was a dream come true for the duo -- a little neighborhood eatery providing authentic southern Mexico cuisine and chef's original creations in a unpretentious atmosphere.  Mission accomplished!  The Barrio Cafe has been hailed as one of the hottest & original restaurants to hit Phoenix.

T-Bones Steakhouse
True Cowboy Steak. You feel like you are a part of the wild west in this secluded hideaway. Great steak and a breathtaking view of the valley. The first time I went there the former owner, an elderly woman (who has since passed), used to walk around and talk to the tables with a loaded gun in her holster. Classic.

It is located on the side of South Mountain and was once a private residence. Constructed in the 1920's out of river rock and adobe, the building was turned into a restaurant in the 1940's that catered to local ranchers and farmers. In 1972, it was named the T-Bone Steakhouse and has been a local favorite ever since.

TeePee Taproom
I try a ton of places on the road based on suggestions from locals. THIS is one of those places. Teepee Taproom is so good the president has eaten there. It's one of the oldest and best places in Phoenix for authentic Mexican food. Nothing fancy. It is near the ballpark too!

Greasewood Flats
Looking for unusual....this is your place!  Outdoor eating. Greasewood Flats is the original stagecoach stop between Fort McDowell and Phoenix.

Housed in a 120+-year-old bunkhouse, Greasewood Flat has been in business for over 30 years. The elevation is 2000 feet above the valley floor making the night air 10 degrees cooler. Greasewood has served up hearty burgers and some wicked libations to Cowboys, Bikers, Locals, and Tourists alike.

Greasewood Flat is a bar, Reata Pass Steakhouse is a restaurant so you must be 21 to enter Greasewood, unless you’re with your parents.
