Family Seafood Tradition...
In the battle of local seafood, Pleasonton's is the underdog. This family owned seafood place is more of a seafood market than restaurant. You can go in and order crabs and they will cook it up for you right there or you can bring some back to your hotel. It's as fresh as you can get and full of local-family owned love. Great people and good seafood.

Breakfast Lunch and Dillner: Charlotte
MD checks out a breakfast, lunch and dinner spot and picks what to eat in three Charlotte food spots.
If you dont like dealing with the mess of cracking crabs..get a crab cake. It is crab cake region! This particular beauty is from June at Woody's Crab House (Maryland) shortly before I made it disappear.

- Dover -
Cool Springs
NASCAR Media Group cameraman Gary Johnson found this place a sevearal years back when we were both working on the tv show Totally NASCAR. Don't be fooled by it's strip-mall location. Cool Springs is one of the best places to eat near Dover and has eclectic dishes and seafood favorites. The NASCAR PR staff gives Cool Springs many thumbs up as well!

Meding and Son Seafood
NASCAR driver Brendan Gaughan raves about this one. All sorts of crab and cajun fare. The giant propeller out front is from an aircraft carrier that saw action in World War II and Vietnam) Momma Anne Meding’s cream of she-crab soup is one of the staples of this place.

Roma Italian Restaurant
Peter "Rabbit" Jellen, long-time transporter driver and crew member with the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Kyle Busch Team, offered up this place to us a few years back. It's a great, affordable Italian place close to the track. It's right near Dover Airforce Base. A favorite of Jason "Eagle" Allison.

Boondocks
While Sambo's is the traditional crab spot for most in the NASCAR garage, Boondocks is the OTHER crab place. We find it to me far more polite and welcoming than Sambo's. Boondocks offers great food and service and is a true coastal original. It's also family owned and operated!

Potstickers
From Sushi to traditional wok meals, Potstickers is your asian food choice if you are staying in Newark. Outside, it's a strip mall eatery. Inside, it's a upscale but fun atmoshere. Happy hour from 3 to 7pm every night!

Mari Monti Restorante
Mari Monti is a casual, but more upscale restaurant than some of our other Dover food-finds. It's another "don't be fooled by it's strip-mall location" places. It offers a great menu of gourmet italian dishes. The seafood is fresh and wonderful. MD and all of the folks from Racing Electronics, including owner Bruce Silver, eat there during race weekend.

Sambo's Tavern
It's a place that you'd only hear about from someone who's been. You won't find this remote location in your travels around Dover Int'l Raceway. Sambo's is off the beaten path but on the radar for nearly everyone in the NASCAR garage. Robby Gordon several of us to Sambo's for the first time several years ago. It's a small seafood restaurant that is usually packed with NASCAR folks. We even saw Jeff Gordon dining there the other year.
Newpaper covered tables and crabs, that's all you really need to know! Get ready to get messy. This place is known for it's crabs and it is essential to roll-up the sleeves and get crackin!

Helen's Famous Sausage House
It's a simple equation. Take a simple menu, trucker hours and a family recipe of sausage passed down four-generations and it equals Helen's Famous Sausage House. It's been open since 1985 and is a pretty cool lil' family operated place. Sausage lovers, check it out!
